A LIKE for the documentary 20.04.2013

The International Documentary Film Festival CRONOGRAF should sound familiar to you for sure, as it is a long-expected event, followed by many „art consumers” in Republic of Moldova, unique in the country, organized (behold!), consecutively,  for the 11th time in Chișinău.   Where? At the „Odeon ” cinema. When? 30th of May - 3rd of June 2013.   This year, besides the Main, cadRO and Local Productions sections, organizers bring us a new category: a Like for the documentary, in which will be presented exclusive cinema works with, about and for teenagers. And because a movie belongs to the public as much as to its author, the young beholder  will have the possibility to dialogue with the film directors and to decide, by voting, who will receive the Public Sympathy Prize. The jury will consist of 5 pupils, from different prestigious institutions from Chișinău, and will have the mission to determine the best movie of the section.   This festival comes ... see more...

Poplar fluff by Cătălin Ștefănescu 31.05.2012

Cronograf. A documentary film festival. The Xth edition. A pretty significant event, considering that nothing is ever certain here, in a place where answers usually seriously mess up the questions and yelling makes more sense than speaking. Sometimes. Because every day isn`t like any other. Every second is different. Well at least it`s the way you would see it, the romanian from Romania, the moron, the naive, the ridiculous "westerner" that arrives from "that" part of the world. You can write about this experience, using all the journalistic criteria studied in school. The story would be so smooth and easy-going, just like a model reportage, like a football game, you just drop it on paper, the important moments, the timing, the score. I`m going to tell my story in short and cut-throat sentences, as if I would just chop them off with a knife, in the way I feel it, with total lack of measure, ... see more...

Missing Cronograf by Angela Arama 15.05.2012

The Chronograf festival has come to its end. An event that changed the world within a couple of days. It`s not a figure of speech, it’s a fact that (with all its subjectivity specific for all truth, even if it is declared immutable) gathered a bunch of nonconformist and lively people - organizers, participants, spectators, jury ...So, yes, we can… We can make an international festival in Chisinau. A fact proven many times by Anatol Stefanet and Petru Vutcarau. So has Virgil Mărgineanu (OWH Studio)  proven it for the 10-th time with his Chronograf. I heard, ironically, that, supposedly, the Chronograf Documentary Film Festival is a family business and therefore it’s not worth "as much" attention. Well, that`s what devotion is, mutual support – has a big impact on the festival’s atmosphere on the appreciation and warmth. Yet again I sat hours in a row in the dark room with my mind anchored on the ... see more...

CRONOGRAF 10/10 by Irina Margareta Nistor 09.05.2012

Cronograf. The bessarabian festival that is a part of the 3 “C” series: Chisinau – Cannes – Cluj.  It all started in a royal manner on May 10. We arrived right on time for the press conference, for some reason they kept us waiting forever at the Passport Control. The city seen from above was magnificent, it looked like a mountain, very welcoming, very green and all you need a camera to start shooting.  An eye-catching Mercedes was expecting us.The cars parked in the city are pretty much like in Bucharest and as soon as I hit the streets I met beloved people like Catalin Stefanescu, Alexandru Solomon, Marian Voicu and Cornel Mihalache. Afterwards we’re attending to a meeting with the journalists in a room full pictures in black and white. I’ve got Leontina by my side, coach and director of a brilliantly organized event, accompanied by a Concertino, played virtuously by a group of musicians, ... see more...
