Toltrele Prutului și carierele de piatră The Cliffs of the Prut River and the Stone Quarries

   The Cliffs of the Prut are a chain of limestone formations trailing along the Prut River for almost 200 km. This reef chain consists of the remains of various organisms: corals, mollusks, sea urchins, algae, shells, and other creatures, and ages between 10 to 20 million years. Although taken under state protection, in the last few years, the Cliffs of the Prut have faced massive destruction due to greed and desire for enrichment through the extraction and sale of stones.
